Jeff Young is the lead guitarist on Megadeth's platinum selling, classic album, So Far, So Good… So What! (1988 Capitol Records). Jeff also wrote the cult-classic 'Fingerprints' column in Guitar for the Practicing Musican magazine.

 

He is a class of 1984, graduate of Guitar Institute of Technology/Musicians Institute & a student of legendary blues & studio guitarist, Steve Hunter (Peter Gabriel, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Jason Becker, David Lee Roth).



In 1998, Jeff became the first ever guitarist, to cross over from metal to world-fusion music genre - co-writing & producing Brazilian phenom, Badi Assad's Verve/PolyGram release entitled, Chameleon. The album climbed to #1 in Europe, also topping JAZZIZ magazine's Readers Poll: "Best Brazilian Albums of the Year."

Highlight performances with Assad included, 1999's Lilith FairFarm Aid 2000, North Sea Jazz & opening slots for Joe Cocker & Jazz legend, Cassandra Wilson. Jeff's association with the Assad family also spawned songwriting collaborations with guitar luminary, Sergio Assad and two pieces on Badi's Verde album (Universal Music).

In 2003, the track 'Waves' from Chameleon was prominently featured in the Michael & Kirk Douglas film, It Runs In The Family and on the movie's soundtrack.

​While living in Las Vegas, Jeff performed the Guitar 1 role, in the Broadway show, Rock of Ages during it's run at the Venetian Resort & Casino.

​

Over the past couple years, Jeff has been playing in the band, Kings of Thrash - a retrospective of the early Megadeth material. So far, KOT has toured the U.S. & Australia twice, as well as, a recent month long trek across Europe.

​

2025 is already turning out to be a prolific year, with the release of the new full-length LP, rEvolutions - a life's work project 11 years in the unmaking & joined by a remarkable guest list of players! *see players manifesto 1-sheet below
